Today I want to talk about one of the greatest passions in my life - photography! I'm a fulltime professional photographer working mainly within fashion and beauty.
I also have experience shooting weddings, business portfolios, products & so on.
This whole adventure started back in 2013, and it's been one of the most life changing experiences and by far the fastest one!
I basically became a photographer because of a bet. Before I picked up the camera, I'd been working within the field as a makeup artist and retoucher ( all freelance). I'd also done a bit of modeling, but nothing major.
So because of that, I knew quite a lot of photographers. My own husband (boyfriend at the time) had even picked up the camera himself.
That led to one evening of me being teased by him and a fellow photographer, because I simply couldn't turn on the freaking camera!
I really had no technical skills.. But I was confident that if I wanted to, I could be a damn good photographer. And so, I was challenged..
I borrowed their cameras and equiptment to prove myself, by taking a few selfportraits.
I instantly fell in love with the process of shooting my own photos and I knew I wanted to do this over and over again. Not knowing where to start, I posted a few of my selfies on facebook. To my surprice, I was quickly contacted by a talented model. The more photos I posted, the more contacts I would get. Some leading to amazing friendships, that I still have today, 4 years later.
After only a few months of practicing my new hobby, I was hired to do workshops. I had my first publications in international fashion magazines, and within a year, I was traveling to The States to get my name out there. Not long after that, the clients starting coming in.
It was my husband that convinced me to go after my dream of becoming professional. In the start of 2016, I took the plunge. It's been one of the best decisions of my life! Ive also never been working as hard or been more challenged, but it's all worth it!
I've never been one to use expensive lights and cameras or even own a big studio. I've always used my living room.
Today I've worked in both the states and several places in Europe. Last month, my husband and I, moved to Dubai, and I'm so excited about starting my business in one of the biggest fashion mekkas in the world! Also.. There's room for a studio in my new house!
