I figured that before we head too deep into october, I should share my september favorites..
This month has been pretty busy for me. I'm currently trying to finish decorating the house and getting every thing ready, before our family comes to visit, from Denmark.
I'm telling you.. It's not an easy task to find a compromise, when your husband actually cares about the style of decoration. Let's just say, we've survived the Ikea Test many times, over the last few months.
Looking back, I think we did good. I'd say it's a match.
So.. The latest beauty craze is... Fenty Beauty! I'm sure you've heard of Rihanna's new makeup line, right? Who hasn't.
Did you know that Fenty is Rihannas last name?
Naturally I had to go to Sephora to see what all the fuss was about. I had a sales girl help me find the right shade, and she applied it to see how it fits. Let me just say, there's no doubt this is a full coverage matte foundation.
I've sworn by MAC for as long as I can remember, but this is just something else.. It's matte, but somehow it feels light on my skin, aswell as not cakey.
The one I normally use, from MAC, can get a bit cakey, if I don't constantly moisturize. (I should always do that regardless, I know..)
Anyways.. FentyBeauty? I'm on board!
That was probably the best purcase of the month..
But oh, how I wish I had enough selfcontrol to visit Sephora and just get the one thing I wanted. But no.. I'm not that kind of power girl. If you are, give me a holler.. We need to talk!
What is a flawless foundation, without a bit of contour and strobing? Nothing, if you ask me.
As a photographer, the process of contour & strobing is used in portrait photography, during the editing process. It's called dodge & burn.
It's been a preferred method of mine for years. I find it facinating how you can alter and enhance certain features of the face. (And the boobs.. Courtesy of Kim Kardashian).
So, when I discovered you can do the same with makeup, I instantly fell in love.
Most of the time, I go all out and use both methods - contouring and strobing, as seen in the two first photos in this post, but sometimes, I'll simply stick to strobing. I love a good highlight.
Sephora contouring kit is a creamy mix of four different colors. They are easy to apply and blends naturally. A good tip: Use the red under your eyes, but don't blend it out, until you've added a layer of the conceiler.
The strobing kit is a shimmery powder and comes in four different shades aswell. They are very pigmented, and applies easily on top of your skin, without smudging your foundation.
I found a guide on Sephora, on how to apply contour, to fit your face shape.
Anyone who's been to Sephora, understands the psychological manipulation that happens, when you head towards the register to pay for your items.
You've already placed them in your shopping cart, you love them, they are already yours. That's why you don't mind playing their game of walking through the labyrinth of last minute purchaces, before you reach the counter to pay for your new items.
You've probably lost that game.. It's OK! We all have.. That's how I got a hold of one of their sleeping masks.. I bought the Rose hair mask, not because I was manipulated into it (right) but because, as much as I love Dubai, I swear it's trying to kill my hair!
I used it a few weeks ago, and I must say, it was a pleasant experience. I have suuuper long hair, as in I have to lift it, when I sit down (on the toilet).. Just kidding.. No, not really.
But I was happy to discover that there was more than enough product to cover my entire hair and it really does smell like roses.
It gave my hair some new life.. It's not a miracle worker, I'll have to do it a few times a month, but it definetely does my hair some good!
Well, that was my september favorites! I hope you enjoyed it. Don't forget to check out my post 50 Deals Under 50 Bucks.
